About Ashna
What is Monologue Productions?
Ashna Yakoob is a writer, producer, director, and comedian based in Los Angeles and New York City. She founded Monologue Productions, a production company built around community-oriented storytelling. Her past production work includes Netflix's Running Point, Apple TV's 12 12 12, and The Daily Show. She's also worked for Vogue, The New Yorker, and Bon Appétit.
She also writes, with bylines in The Woodlands Magazine, Cul-de-sac of Blood, and Under the Button, plus a personal essay newsletter, Cold Plunge, on Substack (sorry). As a comedian, she has performed improv, stand-up, and sketch comedy all around New York City, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and Instagram Reels. Currently, she is writing and producing a marketing web series, among other projects on her slate.
Her backstory?
Ashna was born in Pittsburgh and raised in Arizona, with short stints in various places at various times. She studied English at the University of Pennsylvania, where she was basically clocking in full-time hours at her college sketch comedy troupe, Bloomers.
